Saratov State Agricultural University, named after N.I. Vavilov is one of the biggest and oldest universities of the European part of Russia. The university was founded in the year 1913. For its almost one hundred years' history at the university there were prepared about 100 000 highly qualified specialists for such spheres as economics, veterinary and the whole agricultural sector. On the moment more than 20 000 students from many countries of the world study at the university.
The university maintains its academic traditions, offers to school-leavers specialties, which are in demand on the market, and develops science intensive technologies for agricultural, industrial and economic spheres. There are a lot of respected scientists, politicians and public persons among graduates of the university. There are a lot of reasons to choose Saratov State Agricultural University as the place for studies. The university is situated in one of the most beautiful cities on the south of Russia- Saratov. Being one of the biggest cities on the south- east of the European part of Russia, Saratov is the administrative centre of Saratov region and unofficially is named “the capital of Volga region” (central Russia). High level of education and prestige of the higher education degree of Saratov State Agricultural University is confirmed also by the rating of the Ministry of education and science of the Russian Federation. According to the information of the Ministry, the university is in the top five in the list of more than 50 universities of Russia. In the year 2002, French Industry Assistance Association awarded the university with the international prize Spi golden medal for stability and dynamics of development. By the results of the work in the course of 5 years the university was repeatedly recognized as the best university of Saratov region and was awarded with the standard of the Governor and the Government of Saratov region.Saratov State Agricultural University is a modern higher education establishment, including 9 faculties, where the studies are conducted for Bachelor's and Master's degrees, and also for the qualification “Specialist” at more than 43 mostly demanded agricultural, engineering, technological, economic, managing specialities. Candidates are also offered post-graduate studies.
Also the university owns research departments, publishing house, library, containing almost 1 million of academic books. Infrastructure and material and technical base of the university are equipped with everything necessary for comfortable studies of high quality, interning, laboratory research and accommodation. The structure of the university includes 3 academic complexes and 16 academic buildings. Nine comfortable hostels are prepared for students, there is a sports complex with playgrounds and swimming pool. There are more than 30 sports groups at the university. For practical training there are special educational facilities.
The leading enterprises of the region are also involved in the process of studies, and this fact has a great positive influence on the practical professional training of the students and graduates of the university. The university also owns a large internet-centre, equipped in accordance with all up-to-date requirements to such structures. Here students have free access to any internet-resources and they also can work with numerous software programs.
Highly qualified staff of professors and teachers at Saratov State Agricultural University, including more than 1200 teachers, 160 professors, doctors of science, 690 associate professors, PhDs, government prize winners, allows to conduct educational process on a very high level.

 The charge for nostrification of foreign educational documents to obtain “Certificate of equivalence” in the Rosobrnadzor of Russian Federation obligatory for all international students is approximately 150 USD. Students prepare the set of educational documents and undergo the procedure of equivalency by themselves and at their own expence. 

The above-mentioned fees for tuition, accommodation in student hostel, life and health insurance are valid only for 2010/2011 academic year.

Fees for tuition and accommodation in student hostels in Russian State Universities are fixed in Russian national currency – “Russian ruble”. Fees indicated in USD are approximate equivalent of tuition fees in Russian rubles by the time of processing this booklet. The actual cost for tuition and accommodation in Russian State Universities fees may be corrected slightly the date of invoice for tuition payment issuing in accordance with exchange rate USD – Russian ruble in the International Exchange Market.

 During the initial registration procedure the candidate pays a registration fee of 300 USD which covers the charges for the issuance of the invitation letter for studies, sending its original and other documents to the candidate's country of the permanent residence by express mail, meeting the candidate at the international airport in Moscow, transfer to the domestic airport/train station in Moscow, meeting at the airport/train station of Saratov and accompanying to the University, drawing up documents for admission to University for studies, registration fee, etc. The above mentioned amount doesn't include the cost of the train ticket or airfare Moscow-Saratov (the approximate cost of the train ticket destination Moscow-Saratov is 90 USD, travel time – 16 hours; the approximate cost of airfare 250-300 USD, travel time – 1h35). Average food expenses are 200-300 USD per month. When first entering Russia, the candidate should have about 500 USD to buy some basic necessities and personal things (clothes, dishes, electrical equipment, etc.).
